IRH, Oh i don't think plywood can do that.

Today started with spiling the bottom of the IRH. I didn't know if plywood could bend the way i wanted it to but i was willing to find out.
Above is the pattern that off the strong back. After laying it out with a batten the bottom is beginning to look like its supposed to.

I will say its nice to have a kick ass place to do the drawing. To bad it was the only nice moment of the day. The weather here changes fast.
Putting the panel in place it was just a matter of slowly pulling it into place.

With the stern down the steeper of the two bends starts to go. God the plywood makes some odd noises.

 Pull damn you pull!!
So it was scary, there was a lot of noise but everything bent in and the IRH is off to the races!

  1. IRH is the name i gave to a very small (10') drift boat design i have been toying with for a year now. Most small wooden oar powered boats are called prams, and look just like the pram i learned to sail when i was ten. I wanted a small drift boat to tackle some of the lower volume rivers i enjoy so much by canoe and kayak, so i designed one.

The name IRH comes out of the boating log of Otis "Dock" Marston speaking about the Colorado river through the grand canyon on their trip in 1948, "the passengers were showing symptoms of incurable rapid happiness". I found the quote in Tom Martin's book Big water Little Boats.
